Construction site report from the largest agri-PV plant for grassland and farmland in Upper Austria

The construction work for the EWS Sonnenfeld® in the Upper Austrian municipality of Pischelsdorf am Engelbach for the dual use of simultaneous solar power and food production is in full swing. Now that the piles for the PV modules have been driven and the cabling installed, the installation work for the substructure and the PV modules of the movable and controllable trackers is underway.

Sun catchers & site-specific cultivation widths for maximum yields

So-called sun catchers, as we call the trackers, follow the sun's daily path from east to west, so they are always aligned at the ideal angle to the sun's rays and therefore harvest maximum electricity yields, and not just at midday. The layout design is tailored to the needs of farmer and landowner Franz Bachleitner. In the coming years, he will grow fodder plants and various crops and also maintain the 2m-wide flower strips under the PV modules. The farmer can set the module tables horizontally or open them up to 70° as required and can therefore carry out his field work with his agricultural equipment without any problems.
